Laurayne Bothun

Laurayne Rose Bothun, 78, of Grand Forks, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Laurayne was born on November 16, 1928, to John and Elizabeth (Paur) Kennedy on a farm in Voss, ND. She grew up and attended school in Minto and Grafton, ND. Laurayne attended 4 years at UND where she earned a degree in Home Economics. Laurayne married Don Bothun July 8, 1961, in Minto, ND. Laurayne sold real estate for more than 10 years in North Dakota and Minnesota. Laurayne enjoyed her retirement with Don in Florida. She loved playing cards with her friends, where each week, a different friend would be the host providing the home and lunch. She also enjoyed needlework, cooking, baking, traveling, and keeping track of her grandchildren's activities in school and in sports. She was involved in many groups including her position as 4H Leader, and Welcome Wagon to name a few. Laurayne is survived by her husband of 46 years Don of Grand Forks; sons, Peter (Lisa) Bothun of White Bear Lake, MN, Dr. Paul (Lori) Bothun of Grand Forks, Patrick (Kathy) Bothun of Oclawaha, FL; daughter, Becky (Greg) Funston of Boise, ID; sisters, Jeanette Flaagan of Grand Forks, Dorothy "Dutchy" Wilson of Grafton, ND; brother, Wenzel (Mary) Kennedy of Holiday Island, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brother-in-laws. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church 1018 18th Ave. in Grand Forks. PRIVATE INTERMENT: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Minto, North Dakota.
