Lyle Nelson

Lyle S. Nelson (91), devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend died Tuesday May 13th, 2008 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Lyle was born May 17th, 1916 to Axel & Annie Nelson in Barnesville, MN. He graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks, ND. He married Doris Buck on March 25th, 1937 in Crookston, MN. They lived in Grand Forks, ND until 1998, when they moved to Bismarck ND. Lyle worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad for 40 years from which he retired in June of 1978. During this time he was on the board for Twin City Region United Transportation Union, and the Chairman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Credit Union. He was active with University Lutheran Church and Advisor to the Luther League. He was also a lifetime member to both The Elk's Lodge and IOOF Lodge. For 18 years he and his wife volunteered at United Hospital. Lyle loved league bowling for King News, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and walking with his wife. One of his greatest passions was the lake cabin he built on Big Turtle Lake north of Bemidji, MN where many great years were spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Doris; children, Ron (Armella) Nelson, Diane (Robert) Sedillo, Marijo (David) DeMott; grandchildren, Jim (Maureen) Nelson, Tim (Mary Sue) Nelson, Steve (Heidi) Nelson, Randy (Lisa) Nelson, Robert Sedillo, Kirk Sedillo, April DeMott, Tami (Shelby) DeMott Skager, and many great grandchildren. Lyle was proceeded in death by his parents Axel & Annie Nelson; his son, Bobby Nelson; brother, Willard Nelson and sisters, Grace Thompson and Agness Hilden
