Marvin Robinson

Marvin Lyle Robinson, 82, of Grand Forks, previously of St. Thomas, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Marvin was born March 4, 1925 in St. Thomas, North Dakota, the son of Hage and Julia (Knutson) Robinson. He entered the US Navy in November, 1943 serving on the USS Baxter until his discharge in April, 1946. Marvin married the love of his life, Doris Young on August 21, 1948. Marvin and Doris raised their family in St. Thomas and farmed there until retirement. Marvin and Doris moved to Grand Forks in 2004. Marvin was active in various positions in the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, was a member of the St. Thomas American Legion Post #168, and served on the Midland Township Board. Marvin enjoyed playing chess and card games of all kinds with anyone who would ask. He loved bowling, fishing, reading, and most of all just spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, David (Linda), Grand Forks, ND, Myles (Cindy), St. Thomas, ND, Neil (Laurie), Grand Forks, ND, Curt (Nancy), Vermillion, SD, Todd (Yvonne), Prior Lake, MN, and his daughter, Roxanne (Bradford) Strand, Fargo, ND; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane (Charles) Willert, Boulder, CO, Bunny (Lynn) Bjarnason, Mountain, ND; brother Elmer (Margaret) Robinson, Thompson, ND; sister-in-law, Helen (Jim) Robinson, Grand Forks, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Kliniski; brothers, Miller, and Jim; a grandson, Wade Robinson.
