Robert Brecke

Robert A. "Bob" Brecke, 89, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, December 13, 2007 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare of Grand Forks. Robert Allen Brecke was born February 4, 1918 in Fargo, ND the son of Bjarney and Ruth (Ness) Brecke. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. Robert was an employee of the Great Northern Railway for 46 years. He was also a part-time cattle rancher at the Lazy R. Ranch of Merrifield, ND. Robert enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, ice skating and especially snow skiing at Big Mountain in Montana. Robert married Leanore Veldink on March 31, 1939. She survives along with, daughter, Paula (Brecke) Ausen, Grand Forks, ND; son, Douglas Brecke and his special friend, Rose Foster, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Kevin (Kim) Ausen, Faribault, MN, Chad Ausen, Newbury Park, CA, Marne (Glenn) Tate, San Diego, CA, Raeph Brecke, Grand Forks, Marc (Amy) Brecke, Egan, MN and Jennifer (Mark) Olson, Mendota Heights, MN; a special family friend, Judy Brecke; great grandchildren, Krysta, Kandyce, Kyle, Kary, Katey, Kyara, Kadyn and Kierstyn Ausen all of Faribault, MN and Gina, Rachel and Eric Ausen, Newbury Park, CA, Nicholas Carrillo, San Diego, CA, Dalton Olson and Emily Olson, Mendota Heights, MN, Brooklyn Brecke and Anthony Brecke, Egan, MN. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon and a sister, Bernice (Brecke) Schnebli.
