Roy Davis, 96, Grand Forks, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center. Roy was born to Edward and Mary (Harmon) Davis on November 11, 1911 at Crookston, Minnesota. He attended school at Beltrami, and worked on the family farm. He was trained in watchmaking in Wisconsin. Roy spent several years in watchmaking at Williston, North Dakota. He came to Grand Forks where he opened Davis Jewelry in 1937. Roy married Mabel Marcotte in 1934. He later married Dorothy Grafsgard. Dorothy died in 1959. Roy married Vonnie McBride Bach on December 30, 1962. Roy was an active member of the Masons in Grand Forks. At one time he owned his own airplane and was a private pilot, and also enjoyed golfing (7 hole-in one's). He spent many winters in Apache Wells, Arizona. Roy is survived by his wife Vonnie of Grand Forks; sons, Lyle Davis, Manvel, North Dakota, Wayne (Alice) Davis, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Chris (Nancy) Davis, Jenny (Brian) Stauss, Jeff Davis, Rachel (John) Davis-Hitchcock, Mary (Pat) Cady, Michael (Kara) Davis, Patrick Davis; great-grandchildren, Madison Davis, Haley Davis, Katie Stauss, Cameron Davis, Griffin Cady, Marley Cady; step-son, Joe (Dorothy) Bach, Cosmopolis, Washington; 1 step grandson, Bradley Bach; one step great-grandson, Bradley Bach; sister-in-law, Helen Davis, Anderson, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clyde, Earl and his wife Jessie Davis, Jim and his wife Lillian Davis; a sister, Mae and her husband Paul Miller; spouses, Mabel Draeger, and Dorothy Grafsgard.
