Marvin E. Goebel, 80, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Marvin was born and lived his early years in Ottertail County of Minnesota. After High School he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in the Medical Corps while on duty in the Philippine Islands during the final months of World War II. Marvin graduated from Moler Barber College of Fargo in 1949 and began a lifelong career in barbering. He worked in Kenmare, ND, before purchasing a barber shop and moving to Grand Forks in 1955. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Calvary Lutheran Church. He held several positions with both the local and state barber associations and was secretary of the ND State Board of Barber Examiners for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; sons, David (Judi), Frazee, MN; Duane (Patty), Grand Forks; daughter, Jeanne (Bill) Kuhl, Grand Forks; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and only brother.
