Herbert Leonard Ewals, 81, from Grand Forks ND, passed away on July 19, 2008 in Thornton, CO. Herb was born in New Rockford, ND on July 10, 1927 to Henry and Nettie (Jensen) Ewals. He joined the US Navy with his twin brother Rob and was a Fireman First Class. He was honorably discharged August 11, 1946 .He is a member of the American Legion, Elks and Teamsters. In 1986 he retired after working 30 years in the trucking industry, for Hart Motor and Lewis Trucking. He married Dureen (Johnson) in Williston, ND, on May 4, 1953 and together have three children, Tim (Mary) Ewals of Broomfield, CO, Susan (Phil Rardin) Ewals of Broomfield, CO, and Kathy (Warren) Gibbar of Tucson, AZ. Herb enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, pinochle, telling jokes, Vikings football and watching old western movies. He was a wonderful father and grandfather; he was a loving man with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him. Herb is survived by his three children: seven grandchildren: Shawn (Stephanie) Bondy, Carmen Bondy, Laramie Gibbar, Morgan Gibbar, Megan Rardin, Jordan Rardin and Nicholas Ewals: three great grandchildren: Gabrial Bondy, Sergio and Aidan Yescas: brothers; Bill and Mert Ewals and sisters; Bernice Ewals and Theresa Berthiaume. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dureen, brothers: Don, Ray, Ed, Robert, Clete and sisters: Agnes Jenrich and Marguerite Kennedy.
