James (Jim) Lowe, 86, of Grand Forks, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at 4000 Valley Square Hearthstone Center in Grand Forks. Jim was born February 8, 1922, at rural Emerado, ND, the son of John and Rose Lowe. His mother died when he was seven. He was baptized at Evanger Lutheran Church, and attended school at Fairfield. He farmed with his father until he united in marriage to Evelyn Mayers in Crookston, MN, on January 23, 1945. They began farming on their own soon after. Jim served on St. Matthews Church council, and on the Thompson Elevator board. After retiring they bought a home in Thompson, ND. They later moved to Grand Forks residing at Aspen Park Apartments. He worked 10 years for Ecolab until illness forced him to resign. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn, and two sisters, Clara (Mayers) Wilde of rural Thompson, and Rosella Westly of Grand Forks, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-laws, Floyd Westly, Harold Mayers, and Bud Wilde. **Memorial Contributions may given in Jim's name for the stain glass window in the church. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2008, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church 701 Broadway St. in Thompson, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
