Joseph O. Bushaw, Jr., 62 passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at his home in Grand Forks. Joe was born May 5, 1946, in Grafton, ND to parents Joseph and Neome Bushaw. They lived in Grand Forks where Joe attended school and later went on to graduate from UND in 1969 with a degree from the College of Business and Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, was a member of The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Joe was one of the first students of the UND Aeronautical School of Flying. Joe served in the US Army as a medic on active duty and in the reserve until his discharge in 1972. He was very active in American Legion, was a two term Commander and worked on committees for Veteran employment. Over the years Joe worked in his families businesses, owning and operating The Club 81 and most recently working for the Grand Forks Airport security until his retirement. Joe is survived by his daughters Lisa (Scott) Stordahl and their children and Lauri (Tim) Schirck; son, Joe (Tara) and their Children; mother, Neome Bushaw; sister, Nancy (Tom) Shanor, Jim, John and Jake (Nancy) as well as several nieces and nephews.. Joe leaves behind the love of his life JoAnne Carlson; her two children, daughter, Lisa (Ken) Lamberson and son Loni Carlson and eight grandchildren who loved and will miss him and his SPECIAL wit and charm dearly. Joe was preceded in death by his father. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Dakota Army National Guard, The American Legion Post #157 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817. Joe requested that his body be donated to the UND School of Medicine for research.
