John G. "Jack" Anderson, 72, of Grand Forks passed away on August 8, 2008 at Valley Eldercare with his wife and children by his side. John was born on May 15th, 1936, the son of Oscar and Alvina Anderson. On October 4, 1958 he was united in marriage to Barbara Dianne Gefroh and together they raised two sons and one daughter. This year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. John was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with the members of the church having coffee and chatting. He had a great sense of humor and was always busy doing work around the house until his illness. He had a favorite song called "I can help", which is exactly the way he was. He was always there to help anyone if they needed anything. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. Some of his hobbies included bowling, fishing and watching old western shows. He also owned and operated "Anderson Electronics" since 1966 and fixed equipment for local music stores and bands that played in and around Grand Forks. His pride and joy was his dog "Sugar", she also passed away a couple months prior to his death. John joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and served for four years. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railways for twenty one years, which was the Great Northern Railway when he started. He also worked for JR Simplot for ten years. Jack is survived by his wife Dianne, a son Brad, daughter Sherry and grandson Corey, all of Grand Forks; brothers Richard of East Grand Forks and Don of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Kevin.
