Jean Botz

Jean Botz, 97, passed away on August 22, 2008 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Jean was born on December 17, 1910 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to J. R. and Lauretta Skinner McDougall. She moved with her family to Sawyer, North Dakota where she was raised. She graduated from Sawyer High School in 1928 and attended Minot State. She taught school in rural schools south of Minot as well as in Sawyer, Denbigh and Granville. She retired in 1975. She took great pride in being an educator. On June 9, 1939, she married Allyn (Fritz) Botz in Sawyer, North Dakota. They lived at Denbigh and Granville. Fritz passed away on May 21, 1973. She moved to Grand Forks in 1991 where she spent the next 17 years at Parkwood Place. Jean is survived by her children: sons, Robert (Rhea) Botz, Casper, WY; Albert (Gladys) Botz, Bismarck, ND; Brad (Jane) Botz , Hays, KS ; a daughter, Sandra Kerr, Grand Forks, ND; and a sister, Charlotte Heady, Albuquerque, NM. Grandchildren: Angela (Mark) Netterfield , Tim( Dawn) Kerr, Brad(Ronda) Botz, Daniel (Angela) Botz, Darin Kerr, Shannon Botz, Chad Botz, Rob (Danielle) Botz, Bryan Botz, Michael(Amy) Botz, Kim (Jim) Durfee, Kelly Traylor, Nicole(Brian )Finn and Brad Crook as well as 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son-in-law, Ralph Kerr, her brothers, Neil and John McDougall, sisters, Lillian Horton and Fanny Ruud. **Memorials contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church 5555 S. Washington St, Grand Forks, ND. FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30 at First Presbyterian Church 5555 Washington St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT: Granville Cemetery, Granville, ND.
