Derrold G. Turner

Derrold G. Turner, 75, Grand Forks, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 in Grand Forks at his home. Derrold Gene Turner was born November 30, 1932 to David & Sayde (Kothe) Turner in Lancaster, MN. He was raised in Lancaster graduating in 1950 and serving in the US Army from 1953 - 1955. He attended Hanson Trade School in Fargo. He married Beverly Ann (Johnson) Turner July 19, 1958 in Lake Bronson, MN and moved to Grand Forks. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Derrold was employed by Sears, Montgomery Wards and the North Dakota Mill retiring in 1995. Derrold's joy was his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments and activities. Derrold was a man who never met a stranger, he may have come upon someone he wasn't familiar with but in a very short time he had the ability to talk with anyone and make them feel comfortable and soon knew their life story. Survivors include, his wife, Beverly; four children, Gregory, Bend, OR, Lori(Jon) Landa, Grand Forks, Steven (Robin), Grand Forks, Douglas (Ramie), Bismarck, ND; seven grandchildren, Kelcy and Kaden Landa, Jayce and Reed Turner and Cale, Brooks and Reese Turner: sister, Eleanor (James) Lundon, Crookston, MN. Derrold was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Dakota Army National Guard, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
