Dale G. Duggan

Dale G. Duggan, 75, of Grand Forks, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village Oakcrest in Grand Forks. Dale Gerald Duggan was born February 16, 1933, at Ayr, ND, the son of Floyd and Ella (Schneekloth) Duggan. He graduated from Page High School and attended Jamestown College. After two years of Army service, he returned to college and graduated from Valley City State in 1958, with degrees in Business Education and Physical Education. Dale married Helen Johnson on October 31, 1957. Dale's first teaching and coaching position was in Marion, ND. He became principal his second year at Marion, a position he held for six years. He received a Masters in Administration from the University of North Dakota in 1968 while serving as principal at Central Valley School from 1965-1970. He served as superintendent there until his retirement in 1995. He was active in the ND Association of School Administrators and took pride in his leadership roles. Dale & Helen had resided in Grand Forks since their retirements. Dale is survived by his daughters; Lynn (Michael) Noland of Billings, MT, Cheryl (Ron) Schreiner of Grand Forks, and Rebecca (Edward) Murphy of Bismarck; grandchildren, Chris Noland, Taira Noland Smith, Aimee Abentroth, Leigh Schreiner, Paul & Daniel Murphy; great-granddaughter Aiva Smith; sisters, Marcy (Orville) Langdahl of Bellevue, WA, and Marilyn West of Fargo; brothers, Gary (Carol) Duggan of West Fargo, and Donald (Linda) Duggan of Owasso, OK. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; wife, Helen; daughter, Lori Duggan Abentroth, and grandson, Jon Abentroth. FUNERAL SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at Amundson's. INTERMENT: Will take place immediately following the funeral at Immanuel Cemetery #2 in Buxton, ND
