Clifford O Nystrom

Clifford O. Nystrom, 86, Grand Forks, ND died Friday, September 26, 2008 in the Villa St. Vincent care facility of Crookston, MN. Clifford O. Nystrom was born December 2, 1921 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Hans and Esther (Swanson) Nystrom. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. Clifford served as a Naval Aviator during WWII in China, flying support missions for AVG. After the war, He returned to Grand Forks. Clifford married Etta S. Johnson on September 28, 1947. They lived in Bemidji, MN were Clifford worked for Minnkota Power Co. They later returned to Grand Forks. Clifford retired from Minnkota Power Co. as a Line Supervisor in 1984. He and Etta spent retirement years in Zapata, TX. Etta died on June 11, 1994. Clifford returned to Grand Forks in 2004. Clifford was a member of the Bemidji Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also was a member of the IBEW electricians union and had been very active in his church in south Texas. Clifford enjoyed travel, fishing and golf. Survivors include has son, Clifford "Butch" (Phyllis) Nystrom, Grand Forks; grandson, Clifford II and his fiancé, Kristy Mitteness; brother, Harvey (Rita) Nystrom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta; an infant son, David; his parents; brother, Arnold and an infant sister, LaVerne.
