Wallace B. Braaten

Wallace (Wally) B. Braaten, 74, died peacefully at his home in Manvel, ND, Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Wally was born on June 25, 1934, to Peter Sr. & Nellie (Fossum) Braaten in Mekinock, ND. His family moved to Manvel in 1947 and he spent most of his life there. Wally married Marianne Foley on December 11, 1954 in Manvel. They moved to Everett, WA in 1960 and lived there for twelve years before returning to Manvel. He worked on construction, driving truck and heavy equipment. Wally enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle, and country music. He spent countless hours the past few years making CDs of music and giving to friends and family. Wally is survived by; sons, Dean (Kaye) Braaten of Grand Forks, David (Michelle) Braaten of Manvel, Danny (Heidi) Braaten of Lakeville, MN, Dale "Sam" (Karla) Braaten of Manvel; daughter, Diane Cooper of Manvel; daughter-in-law Leann (Paul) Grzadzielewski; brothers, Jim Braaten of Thompson, Gary Braaten of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Donna Onnaland of Grand Forks, Randina (Tom) Gerbereaux of Grand Forks; brother-in-law, Gerald Erickson of St. Paul, MN; sister-in-law, Judi Braaten; grandchildren, Pat (Julie) Fitzsimonds, Jacob, Jerad & Falisha Braaten, Derrick, Lucas (Jennifer), Chelsey, & Dylan Olson, Amber (Matt)Whebbe, Stacy (Bill) Anderson, Jennifer Spofford, Shelby Braaten, Garet Grzadzielewski, Krystal Hofherr and Kendal Braaten; 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dwayne; brothers, Norman and Peter Jr.; sisters, Lorraine Schlinker and Laverne Erickson. He will be missed by family and friends. May he rest in peace. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church 1000 Oldham Ave. in Manvel, ND. VISITATION: 3:00-5:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the church in Manvel. INTERMENT: (Private Family Burial) Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
