James (Jim) E. Robinson 72, East Grand Forks, MN passed into heaven after a lengthy illness on October 10, 2008 at Altru Hospital with his family at his bedside. Jim was born to Charley and Genevieve (Schmitz) Robinson on June 18, 1936. He grew up and completed the 8th grade in Portal, North Dakota. Jim enlisted in the US Army in 1960 at the age of 24 until 1962. He served in the reserves and then was honorably discharged in 1966 after 6 years of service. Jim worked for the Soo Line Railroad as a Locomotive Car Foreman for 34.5 years until he retired in 1991. Jim is a member of the American Legion 109 in Portal, ND and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. Jim loved to read westerns, do wood working, fix small electrical engines, help a neighbor, go camping and having fun with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rose; son Donald (Harmony) of Minot, ND, grandchildren, Hillary and Hayley of Brunswick, GA; daughter Genevieve (Randy) Hawbaker of Elizabeth, CO; son Paul (Shirley) of Buffalo, MN, grandchildren, Daniel Riggs of Buffalo, MN, Dixie (Tom) Marketon of Buffalo, MN, great grandchild Madison; daughter Holly (Dan) Richards of Grand Forks, ND, grandchildren, Ethan, Alexandra, Haden and Lauren. Nephew, Richard (Linda) Richardson of Watford City, ND and many special friends and relatives. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edwin Robinson; sister, Lucille Richardson/Weber; sister, Isbelle Robinson; brother, Charles Robinson; sister, Dorothy Prim.
