Robert Sorlien

Robert "Bob" J. Sorlien, Sr., 85, of Grand Forks, ND died Monday, October 27, 2008 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family. Robert Sorlien was born June 13, 1923 in Grand Forks, the son of J. Palmer and Inez (Brown) Sorlien. He attended schools in Grand Forks. Bob entered the US Navy in 1944 and served until being honorably discharged in 1946. Bob married Marie Foltz on August 15, 1949 in Grand Forks. He worked at the BlueBird Shoe Shop for 23 years and then at the University of North Dakota for over 25 years before retiring in 1988. Bob was a member of the DAV, VFW and the American Legion. Robert loved God, family and animals and will be greatly missed. Robert is survived by: Robert Sorlien Jr. (Shirley), Cheryl (Rod) Wawryk, Michael(Jane)Sorlien, Randy(Kristi)Sorlien, Pat (Honoria) Sorlien; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wonderful wife, Marie; a son, Ricky; granddaughters, Katie Sorlien, Michelle Cooley and Erin Cooley.
