Florence M. Stancyk, 81, Grafton, North Dakota, formerly of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Strandquist, Minnesota, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Florence Mary Altendorf was born August 8, 1927 in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Michael and Theodosia (Bishop) Altendorf. She was raised in rural Grafton. Florence and John Stancyk were married on October 19, 1953 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, North Dakota. They lived in Strandquist, Minnesota until 1966 when they moved to Grand Forks. She is survived by her husband, John; six children, Marie (John) Halda, Rochester, MN, Joann (Jim) Kittilson, Spokane, WA, Theresa Wasylow, Grand Forks, ND, Raymond (Nancy Vonasek) Stancyk, East Grand Forks, MN, John Stancyk, Jr., Rochester, MN, and Carol (Jon) Galde, Rochester, MN; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Grzadzielewski, Grafton, ND, and Geraldine (Duane) LaHaise, Minot, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents; twin brother Florian Altendorf, and an infant brother, Alfred; brother-in-law, Joseph Grzadzielewski; son-in-law, Patrick Wasylow; infant grandson, Paul William Galde. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 520 N. 5th St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service Friday, November 7, 2008 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, and for the hour prior to the mass in the church. Interment: will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks
