Richard Charles Hutton

May 8, 1944 — November 15, 2008

Richard (Dick) Charles Hutton, 64, will be remembered as one who embodied cheerfulness and faith in God. He lived his life with the steady purpose of sharing his love of Christ with those around him in any way he could. After a long battle with cancer, Dick passed away November 15, 2008 at his home in the presence of loved ones. Even in his last days, Dick's eyes held the same vibrant sparkle that many knew and loved. His humble character, unique sense of humor and generosity rippled throughout the community during his lifetime. Dick was born to William and Dorothy (Hart) Hutton on May 8, 1944 in Manvel, N.D. Early in life, Dick was marked by humility, patience and a strong work ethic while assisting on the family farm in Manvel. He married Carol Budzeak in December, 1963. One year later, they welcomed their daughter Kristy into the world. Dick began farming the family farm with his brother Jim in 1963. He then ventured into carpentry in 1973 and finally joined his brother Frank with Hutton Bros. Construction in the early 90's, eventually taking over the company. He later joined Crary Contracting as a finish carpenter supervisor in 2003 till his retirement. Dick married Carol Mellott, on June 15, 1991 Carol has since been the love of his life and his greatest friend and caretaker. Dick and Carol's relationship provided a strong model for family and friends, showing their love for each other and their Savior in their generosity toward others, and the care they so frequently provided to those in need. Dick carried out countless construction projects for friends, family and his business clients. Over the span of his professional career, Dick continued to sharpen his craft. He always looked for an alternative, more efficient process for a routine task. Even during his cancer treatment, Dick designed, built and patented EZstep for pickup trucks. His handiwork will forever live on in the design and quality of his craftsmanship.
