James B. "Jim" Eastman, 90, Johnstown, ND died Sunday, November 23, 2008 in the Larimore Good Samaritan Nursing Center of Larimore, ND. Jim was born May 25, 1918 in Johnstown, ND the fourth son of Daniel and Clara (Thorson) Eastman. He graduated from high school in Johnstown, ND in May of 1936. Jim served as a Sergeant in the 36th Calvary of the US Army during WWII and was a tank driver. He returned to Johnstown where he farmed with his parents and worked the winter months in Florida. Jim married Ivonne Ferguson in February of 1951 in Grafton, ND. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Forest River, ND and was a past elder of the church. He was also a past master of the Masons, a past Patron of the OES for many years and a member of the American Legion in Forest River. Jim is survived by his wife, Ivonne; son, Brian Eastman, Johnston, ND; step-daughter, Randi Libit, Tallahassee, FL; step-son, Craig Garland, North Bend, OR; three grandsons, Dane, Travis and Grady Eastman; three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Zena Bonebrake, Thelma Courtright and Borgie Dickman; four brothers, Hazen, Ronnie, Eugene and Maxwell; step-daughter, Vicki Romsa and step grandchild, Julie Romsa.
