George John Lawrence

George John Lawrence, 73, of Grand Forks, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. George was born on March 27, 1935, in New York, the son of George & Margaret (Reynolds) Lawrence. George entered the U.S. Air Force when he was 17. During his time in the service he met the love of his life. He married Mary Unwin on August 2, 1955, in Minot, ND. Together they raised 5 wonderful daughters in North Dakota. George worked for the city of Grand Forks for 32 years before his retirement on April 15, 1998. He was very dedicated and loved his job. George had many collectables, enjoyed visits on his CB radio, and loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; daughters, Patty Sawyer of Hatton, Peggy (Tim) Rogers, Pam Ramey, Becky (John) Kay, and Jenny (Dan) Stevenson all of Grand Forks; 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Susan Ille of Meridian, CT. He was preceded in death by his parents. FUNERAL SERVICES: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening before the service.
