Leo Bell

Leo E. Bell, 91, Grand Forks, ND died Friday, December 5, 2008 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Leo was born August 8, 1917 in Cavalier, ND the son of George and Amelia "Emma" (Walker) Bell. He was raised and educated at Cavalier, ND and graduated from high school there. Leo graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in accounting. He worked as a bookkeeper for Robertson Lumber in Grand Forks. Leo married Evelyn Lee on august 22, 1940 in Grand Forks. They lived in Aberdeen, SD, Seattle, WA and Bainbridge Island, WA. In 1946, they returned to Grand Forks where Leo was an office manager at Northern Construction Co. It was during this time that Leo obtained his private pilot license. In 1958, He founded Leo Bell and Associates Accounting Firm in Grand Forks. He operated the firm until 1984 when he sold the company to Drees, Risky and Nordell. Leo served as president of the GF Wildlife Association and as president of the GF Builders and Traders Association. He was also a member of the Grand Forks Exchange Club. Survivors include son, Lee (Jana) Bell, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jonathan Bauer, Skylar Bell and Wyatt Bell. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; brother, George; sisters Frances Lage and Donna Fransway.
