Anna Brorson

Anna K. Brorson, 85, Grand Forks, died Monday, December 8, 2008 in 4000 Valley Square - Woodside Village. Anna Kristbjorg Kristjanson was born to Sigurbjorn and Kristbjorg (Arnason) Kristjanson on December 24, 1922 at Mountain, North Dakota. She attended school in Mountain, graduating from Mountain High School in 1940. She then graduated from Mayville State Teachers College. Anna and Norman Brorson were united in marriage on September 10, 1949 at Mountain, North Dakota. They lived at Gardner, Edinburg, and Grafton, North Dakota before moving to Grand Forks in 1969. Anna was an elementary school teacher in rural North Dakota, and also taught kindergarten at Grafton Lutheran Church School. Anna will always be remembered for her love of music, her talent as a seamstress, and her joy for baking. All these things were a part of her Icelandic heritage, but mostly Anna will be remembered for her loving devotion to family and faith. Anna is survived by her husband, Norman, Grand Forks; children, Bruce (Sue) Brorson, Grand Forks, Lon (Jane) Brorson, Grand Forks, Jo Ann Miller (John), Fargo, North Dakota, Kathy (Jim) Torkelson, Grand Forks, Kent (Callie) Brorson, Duluth, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lara (Bud) Stanton, Ithaca, New York, Rosa Thorfinnson, Grand Forks, and Sigurbjorn (Emily) Kristjanson, Seattle, Washington. She is preceded in death by a son, Kevin Brorson; an infant brother Junnlauger, and brothers, Vilmar and Hannes, and a sister, Margaret Thomasson. Memorial Services: will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 7 to 8 p.m. with an 8:00 p.m. Prayer Service on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 (today) in Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, and one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Memorials: are preferred to 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks.
