Gladys Erickson

Gladys Erickson, 97, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, January 8, 2009 in Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village. Glad was born September 22, 1911 in Fosston, MN the daughter of Hjalmer and Clara (Thompson) Bronken. She moved from Fosston to Grace City and later to Prosper where she attended elementary school. She and her family moved to Grand Forks where she graduated from high school in 1929. In 1930 she attended Mayville College where she received a temporary teaching license. She taught school for two years in a Kelly country school near Grand Forks from 1931 to 1933. Gladys worked at Griffith's for a short time then worked at Newberry's as an office manager for 25 years. After Newberry's closed, she worked as a bookkeeper for Lunseth Plumbing and Heating for 20 years. She retired in 1974. Gladys married Monty Erickson on September 6, 1958 in Moorhead, MN. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1964. Survivors include her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Erwin (Stella), Francis (Mabel), Marvin (Joan); sister, Agnes (Sparky) Hildremyr and a special cousin, Cora(Eddie) Lageson. Funeral Services will be 5:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Americus Cemetery of Reynolds, ND
