James Bernard Richmond

Dr. James Bernard Richmond, 34, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on January 6, 2009. James was born in Grand Forks on June 28, 1974 to Blanca Richmond and Lloyde Richmond, Jr. He attended St. Michael's Catholic School, Valley Junior High School, and Central High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Cum Laude) from University of North Dakota in 1997. James continued his education at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in Denver, CO, where he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001. Upon graduation, he received the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award. James then returned to North Dakota to provide dental care to members of the Larimore community and surrounding areas. James had a wonderful spirit that touched many people. James was an inquisitive and adventurous child. He served as an altar boy at St. Michael's Church. His Catholic faith gave him great comfort and strength in his life. Throughout his youth he had a passion and talent for hockey, playing in junior high, high school, and adult leagues. He excelled in other athletics such as golf and tennis, and loved skiing and water sports. He was dedicated to Boy Scouts, earning Parvuli Dei, Ad Altare Dei, and Eagle Scout awards. As a dentist, James loved serving and helping the people of Larimore and the surrounding communities. James was well-liked and admired for his gentle, kind demeanor and skilled hands. He served as a member of the House of Delegates of the North Dakota Dental Association. James enjoyed hosting friends and family at the lake, and fishing with his nephews was a favorite activity. James took his beloved dog Brutus with him wherever he went. He was a loyal member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity at UND and an avid Sioux sports fan. James had a deep appreciation and love for his family, and he was adored by his five nephews and his niece. He shared a closeness with his mother and four siblings that will be greatly missed. James was a dedicated and loyal friend and loved by many. His memory will live in our hearts forever. James is survived by his mother Blanca Richmond, of Grand Forks, ND; brother Lloyde Richmond III (Carol) of Castle Rock, CO; sisters: Dr. Blanca-Richmond-Coca (Eduardo) of Thornton, CO, Alice Smith (Steve) of Grand Forks, ND, and Aileen Richmond (Abraham Valdes) of Boston, MA; nephews: Jacob Richmond of Grand Forks, ND, Nicholas Richmond of Castle Rock, CO, and Andrew, Patrick, and Brendan Coca of Thornton, CO; niece Ruby Smith of Grand Forks, ND; uncle Jaime Humerez (Nelly) of La Paz, Bolivia; aunts: Olga Humerez of Green Bay, WI, and Norah Humerez-Comtois (Gilles) of Sherbrooke, Quebec. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyde Richmond, Jr., grandparents, and two uncles. Donations in honor of James may be sent to: Larimore Good Samaritan Society (501 E.
