Charles A. McCauley, 60, of Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Charles A. McCauley was born October 4, 1948 in Minot, ND the son of Vincent and Nina (Anderson) McCauley. He grew up and attended school in Minot, ND and graduated from high school there. Charlie attended Minot State College. He then earned his Master's Degree in Music Education from UND. He also furthered his education at the Arizona State University. Charlie began teaching music at Sacred Heart Catholic School. In 1978 he married Stephanie Amb in East Grand Forks, MN. In 1979 he moved to Brookings, SD and taught choral music at Brookings High School. In 1989 Charlie moved to Grand Forks and taught choral music at Grand Forks Central High School until retiring in 2006. During his retirement Charlie continued teaching voice and music at the Northland Community Technical College. Charlie was a very talented music director, he directed music at the Frostfire Theatre in Walhalla, ND for 18 years and the SDSU summer theatre. He was also the Golf Coach at Grand Forks Central. Charlie was an avid skier, golfer and proud Democrat. Charlie was a loving person with a caring heart. He lived a life of service to all people, "Heart of a Servant Leader" and he was an excellent story teller. He loved making people laugh and loved making people happy. He will be greatly missed. Charlie is survived by: Children: Joseph McCauley of Bismarck, ND; Patrick McCauley of Denver, CO and a daughter Michelle McCauley of Grand Forks, ND. Sister: Mary Knoll - Mukilteo, WA Dear friend Paula Davis - Grand Forks, ND He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Nina McCauley; and Brother-in-law Paul Knoll.
