M. Yvonne Anderson, 79, Grand Forks, died Friday, January 23, 2009 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Yvonne Selley, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Chicken) Selley was born June 6, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She grew up in Fannystelle, Manitoba, graduating from Fannystelle High School in 1947. In 1951, she graduated from the Grace Hospital of Nursing. Yvonne and Lyle F. Anderson were united in marriage on November 14, 1953 in Winnipeg. They lived in Grafton and Hillsboro, North Dakota before moving to Grand Forks in 1963. She was a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital and United Hospitals in Grand Forks. Yvonne retired as head nurse of the Intensive Care Unit in 1985 and was inducted into the Altru Nursing Hall of Fame in 2003. Yvonne was very socially active, which included her volunteer work with Hospice and at Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and following her grandchildren's many activities. Yvonne enjoyed visiting with her many dear friends and was particularly proud of her continued involvement with her Grafton birthday club, which was started in 1951. She is survived by her husband, Lyle, Grand Forks; her children, Clark (Danette) Anderson and their children, Griffin and Graham, Longmont, CO; Beth Anderson-Molde (Jim Molde) and their daughter, Kinzie, Grafton, ND; Scott Anderson and his children, Samantha, Joey, and Madelyn, Grand Forks; Kent (Cindy) Anderson and their children, Emily and Jewel, Bismarck, ND; siblings, Doug (Sheila) Selley, Ottawa, Ontario; Shirley (Don) Harper, Calgary, Alberta, and Ron (Lorna) Selley, Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Sawyer. Services: will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation: one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery in the Spring.
