Robert Klamm

July 28, 1923 — February 1, 2009

Robert Klamm, 85, formerly of the Holmes Community in rural Thompson, North Dakota, passed away February 1, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Robert (Bob) Floyd Klamm, the son of August and Winnifred Klamm was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on July 28, 1923. He spent his early years growing up in the home his father built in the Holmes Community. After his father passed away, the family lived in Thompson and Grand Forks, ND. When Bob turned 16, they moved back to the family farm so Bob could pursue his life long dream to farm. He retired from farming in 1976. On June 4, 1946, Bob married Alvina Lange and together they farmed, raised their family, and continued their loving relationship for 62 years. Alvina died on January 17, 2009. Bob worked in the sign department for the Grand Forks County Highway Department for 31 years. He retired in 1990. Bob was a member of the Holmes United Methodist Church where he was a member of the HUM Brotherhood and taught Sunday School for many years. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice and shared his gift by performing solos, duets with his wife and singing in men's and mixed quartets throughout the region. His family and friends will lovingly remember Bob for his love of life and playful teasing. He is survived by his thirteen children, Ellen (Larry) Leake, Crookston, MN; Larry (Vicki) Klamm, Brandon, SD; Joyce (Orris) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; Jim (Mary) Klamm, Park Rapids, MN; John (Sharon) Klamm, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Marvin (Diane) Klamm, Grand Forks, ND; Marilyn (Brian) Reigel, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; Neal (Roberta) Klamm, Thompson, ND; Calvin Klamm, Reynolds, ND; Colleen (Curt) Fischer, Thompson, ND Dennis (Sharon) Klamm, Crookston, MN; Charlotte (Scott) Clayton, Northwood, ND; Sharon (Blaine) Solheim, Fergus Falls, MN; 31 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Marion (Howard) Fischer, Thompson, ND; a brother-in-law, Ervin (Jeanette) Lange, Grand Forks; sister-in-laws, Agnes Lange, Ella Fischer, and Evelyn Lange, all of Grand Forks. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alvina; an infant son, Leon; brother, Paul; an infant sister, Esther; daughter-in-law, Linda Klamm; brother-in-laws, Raymond Lange and Maynard Fischer; sister-in-laws, Mary Lange, and Olga Lange.
