Laura Andrea Berkley

Laura Andrea Berkley, 91, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Laura Berkley was born on April 18, 1917, in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Ole & Ella (Hendrickson) Hovick. Laura graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. She attended the University of North Dakota where she received a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts degrees. Laura worked in the Washington D.C. area for 2.5 years and then returned back to North Dakota to help her family. She worked for General Mills as a secretary. She and her mom lived in the Golden Valley, MN area. Laura enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, scrabble, sewing, reading and the simple pleasures of life. She was a faithful student at Parkwood's Bible study group. She was a member of United Lutheran Church all her life and very proud of her relationship with her church. It was there she taught Sunday School. Laura moved into Parkwood Place in 1997, and was very grateful for the friends she met and the staff at Parkwood Place. Left to mourn her passing are her Parkwood Place friends, staff, and special friends Brenda Sem, Carol Svendson, and Jo- Hirsch. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
