Doris Nelson

Doris R. Nelson (Buck), 92, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend passed away March 4, 2009 at her daughters home, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born May 23rd, 1916 to Lucy & Nelson L Buck in Manvel, ND. She grew up in Manvel and Grand Forks where she was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Central High School. Doris married Lyle Nelson on March 25, 1937 in Crookston, MN. They lived in Grand Forks, ND until 1998 when they moved to Bismarck. Doris worked at Wilder Elementary School and King News until she retired in 1976. She was a Charter Member at University Lutheran, active with the Sunday school program, Luther League and Women's Circle. Lyle & Doris volunteered at United Hospital for 18 years. She was Chaplin and Noble Grand for the Grand Forks Rebekahs Association, also served adult meals at Winship school. She attended Faith Lutheran Church and Friendship Circle in Bismarck, ND. Doris dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. During her retirement, many great times were spent at their lake cabin on Big Turtle Lake in Minnesota. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, reading and most of all entertaining family & friends. Doris will be remember and missed by her children, Ron (Armella) Nelson, Grand Forks, Diane (Bobby) Sedillo, Albuquerque, and Marijo (David) DeMott, Bismarck, her grandchildren, Jim (Morene) Nelson, Tim (Mary Sue) Nelson, Randy (Lisa) Nelson, Steve (Heidi) Nelson, Robert Sedillo, Kirk Sedillo, April DeMott, Tami (Shelby) DeMott Skager, and many great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; their son Bobby; her parents Lucy & Nelson Buck; brothers Peter & Theodore Buck and sisters Emma Buck & Alice Miller.
