Clifford D. Olson

Clifford Olson, beloved father of Tennille and Lew Olson , died on March 16, 2009 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center. Clifford was born on June 9th, 1914 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Lewis and Selma (Digness) Olson. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1936 and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served in United States Navy during WWII. Clifford met and married Anita Tennille while they were both officers in the Navy. When he returned home, Clifford joined the family business, Olson Feed and Seed, and in 1960 changed the name to Olson Garden Center. Both he and is wife Anita owned the business until retiring in 1989. In his youth, Clifford participated in Golden Gloves Boxing and was an Eagle Scout. He always was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling, hunting and his gardening. In retirement, Clifford loved playing cards, pool, and singing with all his wonderful friends at Briarwood Apartments. He always looked forward to his yearly travel adventures with his daughters. Clifford is survived by: Daughters: Lew Olson, Magnolia TX and Tennille Olson, Minneapolis, MN Sister: Margaret "Karen" Southwell, New Jersey Grandchildren: Michael Northcutt, Liberty Lakes, WA Great Grand Children: Torren Nothcutt, Liberty Lakes, WA Clifford was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Tennille Olson, a sister and brothers, Phillip, Stewart and, Ann Louise Olson and a son, Clifford Olson Jr. **In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made: Hospice of the Red River Valley 1701 38th St. S. Suite 101 Fargo, ND 58103 MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND. VISITATION: One hour before the service at Amundson Funeral Home.
