Ray A. Mesa, 19, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Grand Forks. Ray Andrew Mesa was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on May 17, 1989 to Ray Joseph Mesa and Alvara Ann (Akset) Mesa. He grew up and attended school in Grand Forks. He was currently a member of the senior class at Community High School in Grand Forks. Ray wrote poetry and was published in the Grand Forks Herald and Choice Magazine. He enjoyed music, animals, and fishing. Ray loved spending time with family and friends. He was always caring for others, and he was a kind soul whose smile would melt your heart. Ray is survived by his parents, Ray Mesa and Alvara Mesa, both of Grand Forks; a brother, Todd Mesa, Grand Forks; sisters, Amber (Austin) Willings, and Sabra Mesa, both of Grand Forks; grandparents, Albert and Elizabeth Mesa, Grand Forks, and Orlin Akset and June Holliday, also of Grand Forks; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He is preceded in death by great-grandparents including Katherine Holliday; and an uncle, Andrew Mesa. Services: 12:00 noon Monday March 23, 2009 in Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S. 20th St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be two hours prior to the service in the church.
