Mary J. Nyberg

Maria J. Nyberg, 61, of Grand Forks, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on September 20, 1947, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. She is the daughter of Henri & Wilhelmia Van Kray. Mary attended school and graduated from high school in the Netherlands. After high school she met the love of her life, John Nyberg. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1966. Together, they had three beautiful daughters, Sandy, Michelle, and Nicole. Mary's love for the elderly brought her to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Valley Eldercare and Parkwood Place in Grand Forks, ND. Mary touched the lives of many with her caring nature and loving touch. Following her retirement, Mary worked at the Goodwill Thrift Store. Mary enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her "girls" and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John of Grand Forks; daughters, Sandy Bullinger (Dave Kovar) of Grand Forks, Michelle (Shawn) Donahue of Rochester, MN, Nicole (Scott) Schuler of Fargo, ND; her grandchildren, Shalee Bullinger, Cole & Kamie Donahue; sister, Rian (Leo) Koolen of the Netherlands and many other family and friends in the United States and Netherlands. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tony and Bart Van Kray; and a grandson, Michael Bullinger. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed. WEATHER DELAY: FUNERAL SERVICES: Have been delayed 24 hours to 11:00 a.m. THURSDAY, March 26, 2009, at Sharon Lutheran Church 1720 S. 20th St. in Grand Forks. VISITATION: Tuesday, March 24, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND, the visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
