Mary Gertrude Polkinghorne

Mary G. Polkinghorne, 64, of Emerado, ND died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Mary Gertrude Polkinghorne was born May 19, 1944 in Iron Mountain, Michigan the daughter of Leslie A. and Gertrude (Richer) Leslie. Mary grew up and attended school in Michigan and graduated from Norway High School there. She married Robert Polkinghorne on September 21, 1963 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mary worked for American Crystal Sugar Co. as a Control Room Operator for 27 years before retiring. She also worked part time for the Grand Forks Air Force Base Commissary for 20 years. Mary enjoyed trapshooting and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Mary is survived by: Husband: Robert Polkinghorne - Emerado, ND Sons: Thomas (Theresa) Polkinghorne - Emerado, ND Daughters: Carolyn Polkinghorne - Emerado Brothers: Jim (Dolly) Leslie- Florida Lewis (Mary) Leslie - Quinnesec, Michigan Tom Leslie - Aurora, Wisconsin Mark Leslie - Racine, Wisconsin Sisters: Pauline Leslie - Wakefield, Michigan Rita Zietrich - Cincinnati, Ohio Yvonne Leslie - Iron, Mountain, Michigan Grandchildren: Jimmy Kalis, Chalo Polkinghorne and Amanda Polkinghorne. Mother: Gertrude Mary Leslie Mary was preceded in death by her father, Leslie A. Leslie.
