Joseph Brown

Joseph E. Brown, 90, of Manvel, ND died Thursday, March 26, 2009 in 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks, ND. Joseph Edward Brown was born Dec. 10, 1918 in rural Manvel, ND the son of Roy and Ruvia (Herman) Brown. He grew up and attended school in the Manvel and graduated from high school there. Joe graduated from the University of North Dakota. He married Lora Schmidt on August 19, 1941 in California. They lived in New Rockford, ND and then in Cheyenne, ND where Joe operated a car garage there for a brief time. He entered the U.S. Navy during WW II and served from 1944 to 1945. Joe then worked for Hughes Aircraft in California until retirement when he moved back to the Manvel area. He was a member of the Manvel American Legion Post # 299 and the VFW Post # 10694 in Santa Ana, California. Joseph is survived by: Son: Dr. Timothy Brown - California Brothers: Roy Jr. (Rose) Brown - Grand Forks, ND Bill Brown - Grand Forks, ND Sisters: Virginia (Glenn) Schmitt - Manvel, ND Dorothy (Henry) Wing - Holbart IN Joanne DeMars - Roseau, MN Kathleen (Keith) Danks - Grand Forks, ND 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Lora; daughter, Patty Blankenbaker; brothers, George and Robert; sisters, Esther Ruvia Kuehner and Viola Haugen.
