Lillian O. Uglem

November 29, 1917 — April 7, 2009

Lillian Ovidia Uglem, 91, of Grand Forks North Dakota, died April 7th at home. Lillian was a caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her smile and laughter will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Lill was born 29 Nov 1917 in Ojata North Dakota, the daughter of Danish and Norwegian immigrant parents, Peter and Lea Petrine (Eidem) Anderson. Lill grew up on the family farm and attended Ojata Elementary and Emerado and Central High School. Lill married Don Eisner in September of 1939 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks and had a son Gary and daughter Jolene (Brosseau). Don died in a plane accident at the end of World War II and Lill married Phil Uglem in Grand Forks in 1948 and they had a daughter Laurie (Schorey)in 1955. Phil had a son Paul by a previous marriage. Lill was active in Grand Forks. She was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed socializing, playing bridge, dancing, rug hooking, baking, Scandinavian handwork, canning and gardening. She was was a member of the Sons of Norway and volunteered often by preparing Norwegian food for the Chapter events. She enjoyed traveling all over the World with family and friends. Lill had made several trips to Selbu Norway to visit relatives and was always ready to go again! Lill is survived by her daughters, Jolene (Jim Brosseau) and Laurie (Doug Schorey); Grandchildren, Tracey (Greg Van Emberg)-Madison WI, Jason-Grand Rapids MN, Heidi Uglem-Fargo, Tim Uglem (Deb)-Moorhead MN, Ben Brosseau-Los Angeles CA, Tom Brosseau-Los Angeles CA, Carrie Brosseau-Grand Forks ND, Stephanie Morris, Escondido, CA and 11 great grandchildren. Lill was preceded in death by her husband Don Eisner in 1945 and Phillip Uglem in 1996, sons Paul in 1989 and Gary in 2002, her brothers, Palmer Anderson in 1996 and Melvin Anderson in 1980, and her parents.
