A. David Samuelson

A.David Samuelson, 81, of Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A. David Samuelson was born October 7, 1927 in Starbuck, MN the son of Albert and Josephine Samuelson. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. G.A. Forde at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN. He grew up and attended public school in Starbuck, MN. David served in the United States Army, 1st Calvary Division, and Occupational Forces in Japan during WWII. On September 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Arlis Wesen. David farmed at Starbuck, MN and also worked at the Starbuck Oil Company before moving to Babbitt, MN. In Babbitt he was employed at Reserve Mining Company. He was also the manager at the Municipal Liquor Store. He then joined Mutual Service Insurance Company as an agent and moved to Huron, SD as district manager. He was transferred to Grand Forks, ND in 1971 and retired in 1987. He resided at Valley Eldercare for the last year. David was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. He was a charter member of the VFW in Babbit, MN; President of the local Life Underwriters of North Dakota; President of of the State Life Underwriters of North Dakota. He will be greatly missed by all. David is survived by: Wife: Arlis Samuelson - Grand Forks Sons: John (Mary) Samuelson - Eveleth, MN Tom (Mary) Samuelson - St. Louis, MO Daughters: JoAnn (Dan) Griffin - Ramsey, MN Sharon ( Bruce) Domm - Fargo, ND Brother : Paul (Edith) Samuelson - St. Paul, MN Grandchildren: David Samuelson, Lori (Kince) Looney, Michael Samuelson, Andy, Neil and Greg Hvidston, Ginny, Katie, Emily and Haley Domm. Great Grandchildren: Leah and Brannon Samuelson. Several Nieces and Nephews. Special Friends: John and Mary Hanson - Grand Forks He was preceded in death by his parents.
