Steve J. Austreng

Steven J. Austreng, 38, Buxton, ND, chose to leave this world on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Steve was born September 9, 1970 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Larry and Mary (Schreiner) Austreng. He was raised on their family farm near Reynolds, ND and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1989. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1993 with a business degree majoring in financial management. Steve married Randi Olson on July 16, 1994 in Climax, MN. They lived in Grandpa Jim and Grandma Alma Austreng's farm house near Thompson, ND, then later moved to Buxton, ND where Steve farmed his entire career. He most recently worked for Larry and Jeff Eliason Farms. Steve's greatest happiness was found in his family, many friends, and his daughter Samantha. He enjoyed his dogs, mechanics, and woodworking; his latest gift of love was making wooden models for Sam. Steve will be so fondly remembered for giving the gift of himself and his talents to his many friends and family. Steve is survived by his wife, Randi, and daughter, Samantha, Buxton, ND; parents, Larry and Mary Austreng, Reynolds, ND; sister, Melissa (Brian) Adams, Reynolds, ND; grandmother, Cecelia Schreiner, Grand Forks; father and mother-in-law, Jon and Linda Olson, Grand Forks; sister-in-law, Tana (James) DeBoer, Lino Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Brian Olson, Moorhead, MN; nieces and nephews, Mitchell and Jaime Adams, and Sarah, Emily and Katie DeBoer. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Alma Austreng and Francis Schreiner.
