Kenneth Morland Satrom died at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks on Friday, May 22, 2009. Ken was an unselfish, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Ken was born July 17, 1919 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan son of Ludvig and Hannah Satrom. Ken was the youngest of four brothers. Ken resided in Saskatchewan until his parents moved to Minot, ND in 1928. After graduation, Ken worked in Fargo, ND and Richmond, CA, returning to Grand Forks in 1945. Ken was united in marriage to Gloria Jordheim on November 10, 1946 at United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Gloria died June 23, 2008. The couple resided their entire married life in Grand Forks, where they raised their two sons, Tom and Jim. Ken was the contract sales manager for Grand Forks Glass and Paint for over 40 years. He particularly enjoyed his many friends in the contracting business. Ken was active in the Grand Forks Builders and Traders, Grand Forks Curling Club, and the Elks Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren at his cabin at Berry Lake, Ontario. Ken's spare time was busy with his lifelong following of Sioux hockey, curling, keeping up on the news, feeding his birds and squirrels, and always finding some fun in every day. Ken's biggest joy in life was helping his wife, family, and friends when they needed help. He had a special connection to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always keeping them entertained and challenged. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, his parents, and brothers Robert and Merle. Survivors include his children Thomas (Barb) of Cambridge, MN; Jim (Corinne) of Grand Forks; Grandchildren: Mary Satrom Clark (Ed), Susan Satrom Kaspar (Jason), Jane Satrom, Grant Satrom, and Daniel Satrom; great grandchildren Lucas Clark, and twins Josh and Kyle Clark; and his brother Galen Satrom. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: will be at 10:00 a.m. (one hour prior to Funeral Service) at United Lutheran. Memorials: to United Lutheran Church or Grand Forks Curling Club Youth Program. Interment: will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
