Donna Simenson

Donna Simenson, 82, Grand Forks, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at home under the care of Altru Hospice Donna was born January 22, 1927 in Grand Forks to Donald and Lucille (Olson) Janes. She attended Roosevelt Elementary, South Junior and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1944. Donna was baptized, and confirmed at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, where she was a lifelong member. She was a secretary to Dr. Elroy Schroeder, City Superintendent of Schools prior to her marriage. Donna and Donald Simenson were united in marriage on June 12, 1949 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. With the birth of their children, Donna chose to stay at home to raise her family, which was a source of enjoyment and fulfillment to her. She is survived by her husband, Donald, Grand Forks; daughter, Judith (Wayne) Wedel, Monte Vista, CO, and their children, Erica Pedron & great-granddaughter Caitlyn Rae, Ryan (Cassi) Wedel and great-grandson, Cole; daughter, Peggy (Kelly) Vollrath, Great Falls, MT, and their children, Kris Vollrath, and Jim Vollrath & great-grandson, Taydem.; brother-in-law, Gene Hassel, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Dee Janes, Watertown, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kenneth and Vernon; and a sister, Beverly. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, and for one hour prior to the service in church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials: are preferred to Altru Hospice or United Lutheran Church
