Gordon Mohn

Gordon M. Mohn, 84, Grand Forks, and formerly of Rural Buxton-Cummings, North Dakota, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Gordon Marmen Mohn was born to Albin and Estella (Ebeltoft) Mohn on November 4, 1924 at Buxton. He attended school at Ervin Township. Gordon served in the US Army from 1943 until he was discharged in June, 1945. Gordon and Lorraine Seablom were united in marriage on May 17, 1947 at Moorhead, Minnesota. They lived in the Rural Buxton-Cummings area where Gordon farmed with his brothers, Burnett and Donald, retiring in 1987. Gordon remained very active in farming even after retirement by working with his son-in-law and grandsons on their farms. He was an active member of Highland Church, a charter member of Highland Cemetery Association, the Central Valley School Board, Traill County Farmers Union, and the American Legion. Gordon is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Grand Forks; daughters, Lynnette (Frank) Mueller, Phoenix, Arizona, Suzie (Scott) Hong, Buxton, Beth (Don) Johnson, Bismarck, ND; sons, Gordy (Deb) Mohn, Grand Forks, and Tim (Julie) Mohn, Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren, Melissa, Nicole, Danielle, Matthew, Chris, Casey, Curt, Jason, Dustin, Tyler, Cody, Jacob, Katie, Joshua, Luke, and Sam; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Henn, Hillsboro, ND, Margaret (Bob) Warta, Gibbon, Nebraska; a brother, Donald (Maureen) Mohn, Yuma, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Bernice Mohn, Hillsboro, ND, and Ethel Mohn, Grand Forks. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Celeste and Ardith; and brothers, Eugene, Lloyd and Burnett. Gordon's greatest joys were his family. Especially important to him were all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Highland Lutheran Church, Rural Cummings. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for the hour prior to the service in church. Interment: Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military Honors: American Legion, VFW Posts, East Grand Forks, MN together with the North Dakota National Guard
