Edwin Alme

Edwin Alme, 89, of Grand Forks, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Edwin was born on November 30, 1919, to Elmer & Alma (Urdahl) Alme in Dahlen, ND, where he grew up and graduated from Dahlen High School in 1937. Edwin served in the US Army from 1942-45 during WWII, 33 months of which was overseas. Edwin farmed after serving in the Army. He married Thelma Hegg Gulson on June 6th, 1972. Thelma died in 1997. He was a member of the Dahlen Church Council, Dahlen Elevator Board, and the Petersburg American Legion Post #247. Edwin is survived by brother, Einar Alme of Cottage Grove, MN; sisters, Anna Lohr of Devon, MT, Jean (Russell) Hoverson of Niagara, ND; step-son, Orris (Ann) Gulson of Grand Forks; step-granddaughters, Barbara, Cindy, Annette and Jill; special friend, Pearl Berge; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; and brothers, Henry, Steen, Stanley, Alden, and Elmer Jr. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at Dahlen Lutheran Church 206 Main St. S. Dahlen, ND. VISITATION: will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, and for the hour prior to the service in the church. INTERMENT: Zion Cemetery, Dahlen, ND. MILITARY HONORS: North Dakota Army National Guard, Petersburg American Legion Post #247.
