Linda Wysocki

Linda L. Wysocki, 60, Grand Forks, ND died Monday, August 24, 2009 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Linda was born September 29, 1948 in Grafton, ND the daughter of Ambrose "Amby" and Leona (Zon) Wysocki. She was raised and educated in Minto, ND and graduated from Minto High School in 1966. She moved to Sacramento, CA, there she trained for computers and worked for the state of California. Linda returned to Grand Forks, North Dakota and was an employee of the City of Grand Forks. She retired in January of 2009 as an accounting technician after 41 years of service. In July of 1988, Linda was the recipient of a heart and double lung transplant. This was a monumental operation, at the time, both for Linda and for medicine. It was Linda's determination and drive which lead to her survival and 21 years of benefits learned by the medical community to help other patients. Linda enjoyed speaking to groups of people, especially children; she also served as a mentor for transplant patients. Linda was a member of the Santa Claus Girls, the Optimist Club and the North Dakota Association of the Disabled. She served at Holy Family Parish as a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion and as a member of the alter society, and as an avid reader, was a volunteer for the Grand Forks Public Library. She was a very creative and talented ceramic artist. She was a 29 year member of the Minto American Legion Auxiliary Unit #201. Most of all, Linda was an extremely caring and loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She loved her cat, Dusty who died two years ago. Survivors include he mother, Leona Wysocki, Grand Forks; siblings, Carol (Jim) Walski, Minto, ND, Betty (Jack) McDonald, Grand Forks, Clarion "Rusty" (Jan) Wysocki, Grand Forks and Therese (Fred Ward) Wysocki, Denver, CO; nieces and nephews, Donald Tibert, David Tibert, Tom (Brenda) McDonald, Tim (Sarrah McCombs) McDonald, Katie (Paul) Mahnke, Jake (Jenny) Olson, Caroline Wysocki, Erin Wysocki and Peter Wysocki; great nieces and nephews, Dilan Tibert, Brady McDonald, Blake McDonald, Ellie McDonald, Christina Mahnke, Tristan McDonald, Taylor McCombs, Calvin Olson and Cole Olson. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Amby and by her grandparents, Frank and Frances Wysocki and John and Bertha Zon.
