Palmer E. Berger II, 63 , of Mapleton, ND and formerly of Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND. Palmer Elton Berger II was born on November 8, 1945 the son of Palmer and Edna (Weir) Berger. He was the younger of two children. Palmer grew up and attended school in Grand Forks. Palmer worked various jobs in Grand Forks including the Grand Forks Herald and Central Mobile Home Repair. In June of 1994, he met his girlfriend, JoAnne Sad, and moved to Fargo. He was employed at Northern Tool and Equipment at the time of his death. Palmer loved racing and for many years was the track photographer at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. He and JoAnne traveled to Tulsa, OK every January for the Chili Bowl Race and then to Knoxville, Iowa in August for the Knoxville Nationals. Palmer was on the selection committee for the Knoxville Hall of Fame. Palmer is survived by: Sons: Todd (Kris) Berger - Casselton, ND David (Jen) Berger - Grand Forks, ND Girlfriend : JoAnne and her daughter Mary Jo - Mapleton, ND Sister: Mary Helen Velaski - Hillsboro, ND Grandchildren: Madison, Alexander and Ashley Berger JoAnne's Grandchildren: Jesse and Jenna Many cousins, nieces and nephews Aunt Helen Berger and Uncle Errol Carruthers Palmer was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law John Velaski.
