Mary Ferguson

Mary A. Ferguson, 86, formerly of Grand Forks, ND died Sunday, September 13, 2009 in Hatton Prairie Village of Hatton, ND. Mary Ann Jorde was born August 11, 1923 on the family farm near Mekinock, ND the daughter of Peder and Selma (Anderson) Jorde. She was raised and educated near Mekinock then worked for The Honeywell Regulator Co. as an optical grinder in Minneapolis, during WWII. Mary married Arthur Ferguson on December 24, 1943 in Louisiana. They lived in Grand Forks where Mary was a volunteer at the Deaconess Hospital, working with polio patients. She also was a bookkeeper for Art in his business, Fergy's Furnace repair. She received a presidential award for volunteering at the Grand Forks Senior Center. Mary loved her family and was always eager to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidery and making doll clothes for her daughter, Juanita's doll collection. Survivors include her sons, Duane (Barb) Ferguson, Colorado Springs, Co, Robert (George Anne), Hatton, ND; son-in law, Tom (Carol) Hagness, Grand Forks, ND; ten grandchildren, John Ferguson, Michael Ferguson, Jared Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Cathy Lopez, Tammi Hoeger, Todd Hagness, Travis Hagness, Jenny Dusterhoft and JacLyn Ferguson; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Astrid Green, Minneapolis, MN; brother, Dennis Jorde, Coon Rapids, MN. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Art; daughter, Juanita; two grandchildren, Terry James Hagness and Pamela Gail Ferguson; sisters, Ella, Sue and Marty; brothers, Donald and Roy.
