Vernon R. Clark Vernon R. Clark, 67 of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed into immortal memory on Sunday, October 4, 2009, in Hampton, Virginia of complications from an unexpected heart attack. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, of Grand Forks; daughters Rebecca (Becky) and Wayne Holden, of Hampton, VA, Lisa and Mark Olson, of Vestal, New York, and son Darwin Clark, of Fargo North Dakota; and grandchildren Connor Olson, of Vestal NY, and Catherine Holden, of Hampton, VA.; brothers Marvin (Joyce) of Portland, Oregon, Leon (Helen) of Hopkins, Minnesota, Wesley (Mary) of Rochester Minnesota, and Allan (Robin) of Pine Island, Minnesota Vernon Richard Clark was born November 18, 1941, in Fillmore County, Minnesota, son of Ralph and Evelyn Clark. He graduated from Chosen Valley High School, Chatfield Minnesota, and the Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute. Then he served in the United States Air Force from 1963 until his retirement in 1984. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked in the University of North Dakota Aviation Operations department and at Valley Petroleum Equipment until retiring in 2004. Vern enjoyed diagnosing mechanical problems, fishing, hunting, reading, watching football, discussing politics, and enjoying the company of his family and friends. Vernon was predeceased by his parents and a brother Wayne Allen Clark, of Fillmore County, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 10, at University Lutheran Church, 2122 University Ave. in Grand Forks, with visitation two hours prior to the funeral in church, and 11:00 am Monday October 12 at Riley Funeral Home, 800 Main St. South, Chatfield, MN, with visitation two hours prior to the funeral in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chatfield Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and Riley Funeral Home, Chatfield.
