Bud Jacobi

November 20, 1921 — October 13, 2009

Charles (Bud ) Jacobi was born on November 20, 1921 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Reinhold & Glenna Jacobi. He attended school in Grand Forks and was in the ROTC program at the University of ND. Bud married Betty Norby on December 18, 1943. He was assigned to the 34th (Red Bull) division of the infantry. He served in Italy until the end of the War. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action, two Bronze Star medals for heroic achievement in action and two Purple Heart medals. Bud stayed in the Army Reserves and taught Reserve Officers training at the University of ND. When the Korean War was over he was discharged from military duty. He spent the rest of his life farming in Warren, MN. Bud was an avid hunter, tennis player, wood carver and supporter of UND athletics. He was a long time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Betty, a daughter, Jayne Kennelly, a son, Robert Jacobi (Ellen); a sister, Judy Jacobi; five grandsons: JD Kennelly (Lisa), Christopher Kennelly (Sheila), Patrick Jacobi (Tracy), Jeff Jacobi, and Charles Jacobi (Nikki Cox); five great Grandchildren, Paige Kennelly, Brooke Kennelly, Joseph Kennelly, Griffin Kennelly, and Miles Kennelly.
