William "Bill" Anderson, 74, Grand Forks, ND, passed away from complications after 3 past cancer surgeries, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. He was surrounded by his loving family at his side. William Duane Anderson, son of Sivert Anderson and Rachel Ensrud Anderson, was born December 8, 1934 in McVille, North Dakota. He attended school in McVille. William worked for the U.S. Government Survey, (1953-1954), served in the U.S. Army (1954-1956), worked for Ulteig Engineers, Fargo (1956-1966) and at Minnkota Power Coop (1966-1996). He had a Technical Degree from the Cleveland Engineering Institute. William Anderson and Carol Elizabeth Williamson were united in marriage on August 16, 1959 in Fargo, North Dakota. They lived in Fargo until moving to Grand Forks in 1966. Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #255, Sertoma Service Club, Credit Union, VM-1000, and the Valley Memorial Homes Board of Directors. Bill served with the Boy Scouts of America and BSA Troop #130 for many years. He and his wife Carol guided 40 Scouts to receiving their Eagle Scout Award. He received the Silver Beaver and the Lamb, scouting awards. Bill enjoyed wood carving, lapidary, golf, traveling to see his family and friends, and spending winters in Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Carol, Grand Forks; sons, Cory (Celeste) Anderson and their children, Emily, Kaylee, Josiah, and Hannah, of Sherwood, Oregon, Carter (Tammy) Anderson and their children, Kayla, and Tyler, of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Chris (Jennifer) Anderson, and their children, Jake and Brock Anderson, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; sisters, Bonnie (Duane) Haas, Oswego, Illinois, and Kay (Truman) Trostad, McVille, North Dakota. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services: will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks Visitation: will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service Friday, October 16, 2009 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and for the hour prior to the service in church. Interment: will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials: are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks or Altru Cancer Center.
