Merle LeRoy Reck

Merle LeRoy Reck, 92, formerly of Grand Forks and Pembina County, died on October 21, 2009, at the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain, ND. Merle was born October 18, 1917, in Mekinock, ND, the son of Walter and Ella (Breitkreutz) Reck. Merle attended school in Cavalier and grew up in the Pembina County area. Merle married Adeline Trottier on January 14, 1938, in Hallock, MN. Adeline died in 2000. Merle worked as a farmer, owned a Chevy garage, ran service stations, and most recently had Merle's Carpet Cleaning service. Merle enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and spending time visiting with friends and family. Merle is survived by his sons, Dale (Patricia) Reck of Neche, ND, Duane (Phyllis) Reck of Grand Forks; daughter, Janice (Al) Owen of Borup, MN; brothers, Robert Reck and Leonard Reck; sisters, Joyce Scott and Betty Reck; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
