Mildred VanHoff

Mildred VanHoff, 88, formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully Friday, October 30, 2009 at her residency. Mildred Ostdahl was born July 8, 1921 in Palermo, ND the daughter of Harold and Asthri (Myhre) Ostdahl. She attended country school and then graduated from High School at Palermo. Mildred married Lloyd Wilhelm in 1939. They owned and operated Lloyd's Jewelry of Grand Forks. Lloyd died in 1968. Mildred continued to operate the Jewelry Store along with her son, Wayne. She married Donald VanHoff on March 9, 1974 in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in Grand Forks and Minot, ND as well as Mesa Arizona commuting from ND to AZ for a number of years. Mildred loved to spend time with her family and friends. She loved to golf, travel, crochet, and was even an avid pool player winning many trophies on her women's pool league in Arizona. Mildred was a special lady to all of us and will truly be missed by her family and friends. Mildred was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Business Women's Association, and Zonta International Survivors include her husband, Donald, Richfield, MN; Son, Lloyd "Wayne" (Joann) Wilhelm, Grand Forks; daughter, Patricia (Charles) Petersen, Bloomington, MN; two stepsons, Donald VanHoff, Fredericksburg, VA and David VanHoff, Northwood, ND; grandchildren; Greg Petersen, Christine (Andy) Otterdahl, Pamela (Troy) Wiens, Terry Wilhelm, Vicky (Mark) Geller, Joey (Jodi) Bjornson, Audra (Bradley) Myerchin, and Melissa VanHoff. 15 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandson; Brothers, Clarence (Doris) Ostdahl, Evansdale, IA, Leonard "Bud" (Marge) Ostdahl, Minot, ND; sisters, Verna Vaage, Stanley, ND, Vivian ( Douglas) Grinolds, Craig, CO. Mildred was preceded in death by her Husband, Lloyd; a grandson, Todd Wilhelm; her parents; brothers, Alvin, Larry and Allan; sisters, Ruth, Nellie, Avis and Lillian.
